Splity
A task manager app case study
Context:
Splity is a project I worked on during Ironhackâs UX/UI course that I participated in from March 2019 to June 2019. The idea behind creating this app was to help people manage their travel related tasks when they are travelling in a group. The entire project was completed in just 3 weeks time from idea generation to final prototype.
Role: UX & UI Designer
Duration: 3 weeks
Categories: UX Research, Ideation, Information Architecture, Prototyping
Tools: Figma, Sketch, Principle, Invision
Design phases
People problem statement:
"Managing and co-ordinating tasks while travelling in a group is tough and time consuming"
Research:
I created an online survey to gain a basic understanding of what the goals, behaviours, likes and dislikes of the users are when it comes to travelling in a group. I also conducted depth interviews to dig deeper into user goals and habits related to traveling with friends. The aim was to understand user needs and pain points better.
Analysing the data:
After gathering different types of data during research phase, it was time to start making sense of all different forms of results. I wrote user stories, created user persona, user journey and affinity daigram to help synthesize the data and understand its patterns.
User Persona
User Stories
User stories helped to understand context, motivations and desired outcomes:
1. When I start my trip with my friends
I want all the important tasks to be distributed within the group
So we all can enjoy our trip with peace of mind
2. When doing a booking related task
I want all my friends to share their preferences
So I can make the decision quicker and save time
Affinity Diagram
I created the affinity map you see below with the help of all the data gathered so far. This helped me synthesize, organize, and thematize my research so I could analyze it well.
User Journey
What steps Denny takes before and after his interaction with the app?
Diving into user task flow to fill the gaps if any
Here I have explained each step of a user who is trying to initiate the tasks sharing app Splity
Information Architecture
Good IA is everything, and I wanted to make sure it is well structured before moving to mid-fidelity wireframes

Reflections
Due to the time limit, I did not have a chance to test and iterate. I will continue refining the prototype and conducting usability tests. Despite for the tight schedule, I went through the user research, ideation, and prototyping phases, which helped me rapidly gain a whole picture of how a product is created in the real-world industry.
